current biologyA message to journalists today from Cell Press, publishers of Current Biology:

Cell Press has lifted the embargo on the following press release due to early reporting. The paper is publishing online in the journal Current Biology on Thursday October 30 at 12:00pm NOON EDT.

Liberal or Conservative? Reactions to Disgust Are a Dead Giveaway

The “early reporting” began with a break by Newsweek and cascaded from there. Cell Press tells Embargo Watch:

Newsweek proactively reached out to Cell Press and EurekAlert to notify us that they had mistakenly broken our embargo. They took the early coverage down from their website once they noticed the error. However, a number of other outlets reported on the Current Biology paper in response to Newsweek’s coverage. As a result we determined that the best way to proceed was to lift the embargo on the paper.

The moral of the story: Liberal or conservative, you can’t unring a bell.
