Here’s the top of an email from Cell Press to its media list today:

The following paper and press release is no longer under embargo due to a breach in Cell Press’s embargo policy by a news outlet. The paper is publishing online in the journal Current Biology at 12:00pm NOON ET today, Thursday April 17.

The breach — or perhaps the breech delivery? — was by Spain’s ABC, Cell Press tells me. Here’s the paper.

On a more serious note: Helen Branswell, of The Canadian Press, asked today why journals don’t name and shame embargo breakers — something I’ve argued for in the past — and instead wait for me to ask who did the deed.
